I received this message from Sylvia Richardson;

“I am a big fan of yours. I first learned about your terrific work when you were featured in Ocala Style Magazine. I teach art at Belleview High School and introduced my students to your delightful work. Some tried to do portraits of their dogs using your style. I was reminded again of your work yesterday when I visited a friend in the emergency room at Munroe Hospital. One of your dog portraits hung on the ceiling above her bed and made us both happy as we looked at it even though the situation was not a happy one. What a gift you have to be able to bring happiness and smiles to people who are in dire situations.”

It is wonderful to receive such compliments, I appreciate them so much. It is fantastic when your work brings joy for others, it inspires me so much.

I loved the fact that she introduced her students to my work and they tried to emulate my style. I asked her if she would like for me to come and visit with her students and talk about the business of art, techniques and/or give a little demonstration. She loved the idea and we set up a date and time to go.

I wanted to share this wonderful letter from one of my clients with all of you, because it symbolizes the reason and the inspiration of why I paint my portraits. It really is a gift to me when I receive such compliments. This gentleman saw the Jack Russell portrait on my Website and emailed me wanting to know “if this was an appropriate gift to give to a grieving couple who just lost their Dog?” I said “I think the couple you will give this print to would be extremely touched by your thoughtful gift.” He placed the order, he wanted it matted and framed and I told him I would gift wrap it in a special way. This is what happened next;

“Hi Maggie. I received a call last nite around 9 pm from Roger. He kept saying you don’t know what you did….you don’t know what you did. Anyway he said that the picture touched a spot in him that he did not know about. He thanked me and handed the phone over to another friend of mine by the name of Bob. Bob was there when they opened up the package. He said that this was an awesome gift that showed what a true friend that I was. Sharon later got on the telephone and said that “this was just like me to do something like this”. She told me that she had finally stopped crying, and then she received the artwork. Sharon said that it was “Perfect” and kept thanking me. They invited me over………..I myself knew Regina for the entire 12 years that she had on earth and I too loved her. I am almost afraid to go over their house due to how I may respond. I was unsure if this would be a good momento or not, I was unsure if this would wind up a little “cheesy” or not, or how my friends may take it. I thought at first that I had paid too much for an 8″ item. I went to bed last night feeling that I had helped two friends and that I did a very good thing. You can not put a price on that kind of thing! I will email you after I see your work in person. Thank you so much Maggie, it appears that your work has struck a cord with some of my dear friends hearts. Ed”

It just does not get better than that. Thanks Ed!
